Joshua Burton

India Downes-Le Guin

Joshua Burton is a Houston native, who received his B.A. from the University of Houston and is currently an MFA candidate for poetry at Syracuse University. His work seeks to navigate the way historical, generational, and familial trauma crosses wires with mental and physical illness. He received a scholarship for the 2019 Juniper Summer Writing Institute, the Honorable Mention for the 2018 Toi Derricotte and Cornelius Eady Chapbook Prize, and was a finalist for the 2017 Claire Keys Poetry Award, the 2017 Writers @ Work Annual Writing Competition, and for the 2019 Mississippi Review Prize. His work is forthcoming in BODY Literature and Mississippi Review.
