Christopher R. Alonso was born and raised in Miami, FL. He has worked as an indie bookseller and is a graduate of the NEOMFA program. His work has appeared in O, Miami, Strange Horizons, Fireside Fiction, and The Miami Rail. His writing has received support from Juniper Summer Writing Institute, the Miami Writers Institute, and Tin House’s summer workshop. He is currently a high school teacher and at work on a novel.

Project description: My novel, currently titled Miami, Atlantis, draws on fantastical elements to tell the story of two queer Cuban-American best friends living in a rapidly changing Miami amidst sea level rise while exploring themes of platonic and romantic love, the optics of desirability, and confronting ghosts of one’s past.
